Ed is 007's New Boss
VETERAN
star Edward Woodward is set to become
James Bond's boss - at the age of 70.
He
has been lined up to play spy chief M
in the 20th Bond blockbuster, which has
the working title Beyond The Ice.
Studio
chiefs were so impressed with Woodward
in the recent remake of The Professionals
they put him top of the list to play M.
The
actor, best known for his roles as a TV
hero in The Equalizer and in the horror
classic The Wicker Man, played Commander
Harry Malone in the £8million production
C15: The New Professionals.
A
Bond production team member said: "It
was felt Edward was brilliant in the Professionals
remake and it was decided he would fit
the role of M perfectly."
He
replaces Dame Judi Dench, who played the
M16 chief in The World Is Not Enough,
GoldenEye and Tomorrow Never Dies. She
replaced Robert Brown who took over from
the original M, Bernard Lee.
It is believed the opening scenes for
Beyond The Ice will be shot in Alaska.
The
source said: "The last three Bond films
have grossed more than £1billion at the
box office worldwide and this one is being
tipped as another winner."
