TWENTY
years have passed since actor
Martin Shaw - as agent Bodie - drove his
Ford Capri round and round in circles
beneath flyovers in The Professionals.
Yet the ghost of his self-inflicted bubble-perm
continues to haunt some of that show's
veterans, now working on the remake, CI5
- The Professionals. In some quarters
there has been the subliminal fear that
the show's new agents, Curtis and Keel
(Kal Weber and Colin
Wells,
pictured with Lexa Doig as Tina), might
feel moved to procure similarly unwarranted
and ghastly image changes.
"Martin Shaw
went out one day," confides Professionals
creator and executive producer Brian Clemens,
"had his hair done like that and
then spent the next few years complaining
that we had made him do it." Happily,
the new actors
do not seem as wilful.
"Kal has had
his hair cut to avoid on-screen resemblance
to Colin,"
Clemens adds. "But they are approaching
their roles with vastly different character
backgrounds."
